Art Discipline .25
Lost
Art Discipline is my creative journal, for the good and the bad stuff. It just makes sense that I share something from my current situation when I feel it’s important.
Sometimes I share general ideas and concepts from art making, or just projects I have worked on.
By now I thought I would have more stuff figured out art wise and on creating projects.
I’m at the most successful point of my career professionally,
and
I don’t think I have ever been this lost with my direction as an artist.
I wanted to be a concept artist in games, made it.
Then I wanted to set the art direction for games and different projects. Made it as well (with some caveats I will explain in the future).
But what about my own art? I feel trapped in the way I work and I am unhappy about it for some reason.
That’s why I am not drawing more than what I strictly need to.
Over time I have been trying to check boxes rather than having fun with my own art.
Everything I started had a clear purpose and goal in the big picture of my career. But I forgot to do something just for the sake of doing it and having fun.
I’ve arrived at this conclusion and now I don’t know what to do.
Any direction is a possible path. I don’t take any because that means not taking the others.
That’s so stupid.
I could just not share this and act like a cool artist that got everything figured out. But that’s not the case.
I’m happy with my career in games, made it to places I would never have thought I could work.
But
I feel less of an artist than ever
and
I will openly share here what I try to do.
Stay creative <3
